How it actually works

The Five-Pathway Pigmentation + Anti-Acne System

Acne and the dark spots it leaves behind are two sides of the same biology. This serum interrupts both.

Pathway Active Mechanism
1. Melanin production 8% Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD) Tyrosinase inhibition + anti-inflammatory action. Delivers the brightening + anti-acne benefits of pure azelaic acid (15 to 20%) at a fraction of the irritation, with clinical safety for sensitive and rosacea-prone skin.1
2. Melanin transport Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) Blocks the transfer of melanin from melanocytes to skin cells by 35 to 68%, the mechanism behind post-acne dark marks. Also regulates sebum production.2,3
3. Existing pigment Melazero (Arisaema Amurense Complex) A premium brightening agent from Brenntag that erases existing melanin via autophagy, the cellular "recycling" mechanism that won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Medicine.4
4. Active breakouts Salix Alba (Willow Bark) Extract Natural source of salicin (precursor to salicylic acid). Anti-inflammatory and gently exfoliates inside the pore lining, reducing comedones without the dryness of synthetic BHA.5
5. Barrier repair + cell turnover Hyaluronan-16 Multi-Complex 16-form HA system with bound retinol, vitamin C, zinc, and silicon: multi-depth hydration plus cellular turnover, antioxidant defence, and collagen support in one delivery vehicle.6,7,8

About the Hyaluronan-16 Multi-Complex

The Hyaluronan-16 complex is the most sophisticated component of this formula. A patented blend combining sixteen different forms of hyaluronic acid, its salts and bioactive derivatives, spanning multiple molecular weights for multi-depth skin penetration. The 16 forms include:

  • Four molecular weights of Sodium Hyaluronate, from high MW (surface plumping) to ultra-low MW (deep dermal hydration)
  • Pure Hyaluronic Acid + Potassium Hyaluronate, primary humectants drawing moisture from the air
  • Hydrolyzed HA + Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, smaller fragments that penetrate deeper than standard HA
  • Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, forms a moisture-locking film on the skin surface
  • Hydroxypropyl Trimonium Hyaluronate, cationic HA that bonds with the skin barrier
  • Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, resists rinsing off, stays on skin longer
  • Sodium Retinoyl Hyaluronate, bound retinol with the gentleness of HA, for cell turnover without classic retinoid irritation
  • Zinc Hydrolyzed Hyaluronate, bound zinc, anti-inflammatory and sebum-balancing
  • Dimethylsilanol Hyaluronate, bound silicon, supports collagen synthesis
  • Ascorbyl Propyl Hyaluronate + Ascorbyl Propyl Hydrolyzed Hyaluronate, two forms of bound vitamin C, stable antioxidants that brighten and protect against free-radical damage

Supporting actives

  • Aquaxyl (Xylitylglucoside + Anhydroxylitol + Xylitol), a French-patented hydration complex from Seppic that restores moisture reserve in the stratum corneum
  • Pullulan, a polysaccharide film-former that gives an instant skin-tightening finish

What we refused to include

  • Hydroquinone, the strongest brightener, but linked to ochronosis (permanent darkening) and banned in EU and Japan
  • Mercury, still found in some Indian brightening products despite being illegal. Third-party tested batch by batch.
  • Steroids, the "fairness cream" controversy ingredient. Causes thinning, dependency, rebound darkening.
  • Fragrance & essential oils, the leading triggers for cosmetic skin reactions, especially on already-irritated pigmented skin.

How to use
  1. Cleanse with a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser. Pat dry.
  2. Apply 3 to 4 drops to face and neck, focusing on areas with active breakouts or dark spots.
  3. Wait 60 seconds for full absorption.
  4. Follow with a barrier-supporting moisturizer.
  5. In the morning, always finish with broad-spectrum SPF 30+. The bound retinol and willow bark BHA increase sun sensitivity.

Frequency: Start every other night for the first week, then nightly as tolerated. After 4 to 6 weeks of comfortable use, an AM application can be added.

Tip: a brief tingling sensation in the first 30 seconds is normal. Persistent burning or redness means scale back.
What to expect
  • Week 1 to 2: Skin feels noticeably more hydrated from the multi-weight hyaluronic system. Slight sensitivity as PAD begins to resurface.
  • Week 3 to 4: Active breakouts reduce in size and frequency. Skin tone looks more even.
  • Week 6 to 8: Visible fading of post-acne dark spots. Texture appears smoother.
  • Week 12+: Cumulative brightening, fewer new breakouts, and clearer skin. This is when most users see the "before / after" difference photos capture.

What is PAD and how is it different from regular azelaic acid?
PAD (Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate) is a water-soluble derivative of azelaic acid. It delivers the same brightening and anti-acne benefits as pure azelaic (15 to 20%) at a fraction of the irritation, making it safe for sensitive and rosacea-prone skin. It's the only azelaic form that mixes cleanly with water-based serums.

Can I use this with retinol or my prescription tretinoin?
This serum already contains bound retinol via Sodium Retinoyl Hyaluronate. Do NOT layer it with additional retinol or prescription tretinoin on the same night; alternate nights instead, and ramp up slowly.

Can I use this with the Reform Brightening Cream?
Yes, this is the recommended "pigmentation hero combo." Apply this serum first (3 to 4 drops), wait 60 seconds, then apply Reform Brightening Cream as the final step. The serum addresses active breakouts and surface pigment; Reform targets stubborn underlying pigment from six additional pathways. Together they cover every stage of the pigmentation cascade.

Can I use this if I have active acne?
Yes, PAD + niacinamide + willow bark all calm active breakouts. Avoid applying directly on broken or oozing pimples (wait for them to scab over).

Is it safe for pregnancy?
No, the formula contains bound retinol (Sodium Retinoyl Hyaluronate). Retinoids in any form are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your OB/GYN or dermatologist for a safe alternative.

How long does one bottle last?
With nightly use (3 to 4 drops), a 30 mL bottle lasts approximately 8 to 10 weeks, roughly one full skin renewal cycle.
